Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh Expressway, travel has never been so close!

4:21 am | August 6, 2024

After 3 years of efforts to organize the construction of the expressway system, Bach Dang Bridge was officially completed, connecting 3 political economic centers, major tourist areas of the North Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh, forming a key inter-regional traffic chain.

The modern bridge over 5.4 km long across Bach Dang River was completed on April 28, 2018, along with 19.8 km of expressway from Ha Long City to Bach Dang Bridge which was basically completed before and is waiting for Bach Dang Bridge to join the rhythm.

The Ha Long – Hai Phong expressway project has a total length of more than 25 km, designed with 4 lanes, the permitted speed is 100 – 110 km/h. The project includes a 19.8 km long expressway and a 5.45 km long Bach Dang Bridge. The main starting point of the route is at Km 102 + 300 National Highway 18 in Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), the end point is at Km 25 + 214 intersecting with Hanoi – Hai Phong Highway 5B, in Dong Hai 2 Ward, Hai An District (Hai Phong City).

The 3H Highway is a coastal highway that, once completed, will shorten the distance between Ha Long and Hai Phong to 25 km, instead of about 80 km as it is now. With a design speed of 100 km/h, connecting to the Hai Phong – Hanoi Highway will shorten the distance from Ha Long to Hanoi by about 60 km and the travel time will be only about 90 minutes, instead of 200 minutes as it is now. Thus, the travel time between the 3 key provinces will be shortened. This will create many benefits for the economy and tourism development. Investors and tourists coming to Ha Long and Hai Phong will be faster and more convenient. The economic benefits for individuals, regions and the country are clearly visible. Where there is traffic, there is economy.

In the context of traffic infrastructure always being likened to the lifeblood of socio-economic development, investing in the bridge and road system to open up other economic sectors is always considered “smart money going first” by localities, especially provinces with advantages in trade and tourism, which rely mainly on passenger traffic.

The Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh expressway, once put into operation, will certainly bring significant benefits to all three provinces and cities. In particular, with the policy of turning Ha Long into a modern tourist city by 2020 and tourism becoming a key economic sector for Quang Ninh province. In recent times, Ha Long City has focused on investing and gradually modernizing tourism and service infrastructure along with managing, preserving and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics and the World Heritage and Natural Wonder of Ha Long Bay.
